I read this book in a couple of hours because I couldn’t put it down. This was such a good book. I know your books are standalone but I need a sequel, lol. There were so many messages in this book that I could relate to. The best one is don’t allow the mistakes of the past to dictate your future. Keep the books coming.
The Mange Bride was very good. Loved the bookmark and the color picture included. I hope there are more in the Betrayed Bride series.
Super happy with everything included in the book box! The Mage Bride story is intriguing and full of mysteries to uncover. I absolutely love the candle it smells incredible sitting on my bedside table. The tea was excellent and the mug was made sturdy and of great quality. Overall, I recommend treating yourself and supporting the author by purchasing your very own box.

I absolutely loved this book, and Phera coming into her own. The ending was so majestic. Also Lessie is such a good friend (that’s a ride or die best friend right there). And though Isak barely spoke he was such a gentle giant. The world building was awesome, I would love to know more about the academy of mages. Like following a character going to school there. I cannot wait for the next book in 2025, I wonder if we’ll get a glimpse of Phera and Rhyme in it. P.S: I wished Rhyme had more POVs but I’m not disappointed with the ones we got.

Also, this special edition hardback is super gorgeous! So shiny, and so were the artprints and book mark! I was very pleased that they came in perfect condition! The purchase was so worth it!

This was my first book by this author and now I can’t wait to read all of her work! Mage Bride is a short (~200 pages) book that packs all the punch of a lengthier fantasy novel. This book is smart, enjoyable, and clearly a great start to Ford’s series of standalones. It has a ton to offer in addition to feel-good romance—intriguing mystery, solid worldbuilding, fast-paced adventure, alluring magic, and a sprinkle of spicy tension. It’s also important for the romantasy genre as we typically see a lot of relationships of mixed magical races, but reality-based interracial ones are largely missing—until now. It’s refreshing to see a Black woman and a white man take center stage in such a riveting setting. We need more of this representation! “Now that I was free, I’d do everything in my power to ensure magic never got taken away from me again.” Phera has all the makings of the fantasy romance FMCs we all know and love. What makes her stand out is her unwavering sense of logic and confidence in her magical abilities no matter what is happening, and despite the way she was treated in the past. I liked her much more than her best friend, Lessie, who is like a sister to her. They make a great team, but Phera is strong and brave, both with Lessie and on her own. Rhyme, the MMC, came from a rough northern people and was raised a warrior. Contrary to his appearance, he’s a reserved, intelligent, and kind man. Like Jon Snow after he befriended the Wildlings. “I vow to be honest with you, to honor and respect you, and to protect you from the suspicions my people carry.” One of my favorite things about Phera and Rhyme is how genuinely they give one another an honest chance. Amidst major strife between their peoples—mages and ice lords—built on assumptions and warped historical narratives, they decide to trust each other and see where it leads. They form their own opinions and their love only grows as a result. The dual POV is also really effective. Whereas most stories switch back and forth every chapter, Ford strategically makes readers wait for the second person’s voice (this is a spoiler-free review, so I can’t tell you who or when!). I actually forgot it was a dual POV story for a bit, so this was a nice surprise. I can’t wait to read Mage Bride again and for my exclusive hardcover edition to arrive!
ARC Review of Mage Bride by Angela J. Ford, releasing June 11th. I received a free ARC copy of this book for an honest review. “She’s a powerful mage. He’s a hardened warrior. It will take them both to slay a monster.” Tropes include: Arranged/forced marriage Murder mystery Slow burn romance Water magic Viking vibes I was immediately captivated by this story. The FMC is imprisoned with her magic subdued. She is given a choice between going to the dungeons or going to an ice clan and being married off to an ice lord. She chooses to go and marry the ice lord for those of you who love arranged marriage and forced proximity tropes and don’t forget the hints of betrayal mixed in! There’s action, romance and battles. Everything you need for a romantasy! The story was told partially in dual pov, though I would have loved to get more of Rhyme’s POV. I definitely found myself rooting for the characters and thoroughly enjoyed the book. The magic system and world building were easy to follow and engaging. If you enjoy romantasy with the aforementioned tropes then this is a book for you! I would love more. This will be a part of a series of standalone Betrayed Brides stories. I’m definitely looking forward to the next installment! Thank you, Angela, for this wonderful book!
Ford packs action, magic, and mystery into the short fantasy romance read! I was gripped from the first page. Phera and Rhyme's story felt as if they were recounting it to me as I sat around the fire with them. I loved the arranged marriage aspect of the book and the slow burn romance that bloomed between the characters. I loved this book. I was not expecting the story to go where it went, but it feels like Phera And Rhyme did the work of being honest with each other and trusting each other. Phera also learned to trust herself and her abilities more as well. I loved the character growth and world-building. I am secretly hoping for Lessie's story as well. Lessie was the ultimate best friend, I was glad she also seemed to find happiness . I’m such an enemy to lover fan🤎💙

This is a new author to me and I will be reading more of her work. Phera used magic that was forbidden and was sentenced to ten years working for the frozen Ice Lords (better than 10 years in prison!). But she discovers that she is also being secretly married to an Ice Lord. She and Ice Lord Rhyme have to figure out how to address the secrets between them (he's planning to sacrifice her in order to get back the stolen women from his clan) all the while they are battling enemies. I liked the worldbuilding and the story. It was a quick, fun read. I received an ARC copy but this is my honest review.

This was a wonderful fast-paced fantasy romance with adventure and mystery. It’s a fun and easy read. The world building and magic system was very interesting to learn about and does set up how our lovely water mage ends up as a mage bride. I did like the chemistry between Phera and Rhyme. It is a fade to black intimate scenes that fit the story but the romance was swoon worthy. I’m very interested in learning more about this world and hope there will be more books in this world. I enjoy Angela’s work and can’t wait to read more.
This was the first time I have read anything by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really loved Phera and how she was able to get through her rather difficult circumstances and I loved her relationship with Rhyme. I also loved all the magic and the mystery, I just wished we could have gotten more of Rhyme’s POV. Otherwise I absolutely loved this story and would highly recommend it.

This book was pretty good. It took a while for the book to get good for me. Once the book got good I couldn't stop reading. I felt like I was watching a movie rather than reading a book. I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This book was shorter than I’m used to but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The mage bride could have used more details but ultimately it was a fun read! I did have an issue with how the beginning of it just threw you into the story but you did catch up. By a few chapters I started to understand what was going on but I will admit that threw me off for a bit. I would have loved more details into the main character and the love interest. But with it only being 200 pages you didn’t really get the time to add those details. The story itself is this books strongest aspect. It’s fun exciting And a bit mysterious. The world that they reside in is interesting and I wish we got more into the politics of the world (something I’m noticing I wish for in a lot of different stories) I would have loved to know more about the south lands and the differences between them and the north. Ultimately if you are looking for a quick fun fantasy read this is great!
Angela J Ford is one of my favorite authors and I was so happy I got to review this! Immediately the mystery hooked me, there were many moving parts to it, with Lessie’s secret of why she left to how and why the monster was stealing women to if the monster was working alone or with the help of a secret mage. There were many plot twist that had me shocked and I can’t wait for everyone to discover them. The world was also very vibrant, I could imagine myself there as the story progressed. I would love to know more about the magic system too! My only gripe was the romance felt a little sudden. For the majority of the book he was pushing her away and when he finally accepted her, we didn’t see too much romance happening since so much was going on around them. I would have like to see more of that but it’s understandable why there wasn’t much of it. Overall, I enjoyed the mystery and plot so a solid four stars
Ms. Ford has written another epic romance story. Phera is under house arrest for performing an act of blood magic which is forbidden by the council. Her only way out of prison is to agree to be shipped off to another realm for ten years to help the ice people with a problem. Her best friend Lesile goes along for the ride. She has secrets of her own she is hiding. Once Phera arrives she finds out she is to be in an arranged marriage to Lord Rhyme. Phera realizes there are many things that need to be uncovered. Lord Rhyme is dedicated to his people and will do anything to save his people. Phera is attracted to him at first sight even before she finds out he is to be her husband. I loved the way this story evolved and could not wait to see what would happen next.
I basically finished this book in 2 days, the story was so good it kept you captivated and wanting more. Mage bride follows Phera a protector and water mage who is being punished for using forbidden magic. She is given the choice to either give up her magic or go help barbaric ice warriors and become an ice lords wife. Angels ford's writing is phenominal, it kepps you intrigued by the story and whats coming. As a lover of fantasy its sometimes refreshing to find a book thats a little more fast paced and straight to the point and this was it for me, i ate it up. I 100% recommend this book. This slow burn fantasy romance was a great read! It had instant attraction, marriage of convenience, a little bit of mystery, magic, a Vikings type of feeling and a kind morally grey FMC. If you're in the mood for a slow burn with fade to black spice scenes i definitely recommend
I loved this story! It started off with a bang of a mystery and then kept you on your toes from one section to another. It was a fast read with a fast paced storyline.
